Dominique Bernath completed four years of a Bachelor of Music program at the University of British Columbia in 1997, majoring in Orchestral Percussion Performance. She has been the Principal Timpanist/Percussionist of the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra since 1997, and has played with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra since 1995. She performs frequently with the West Coast Symphony Orchestra, the Pacific Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and the Willingdon Church Orchestra. Dominique has also shared the stage with such talents as Jann Arden, Natalie MacMaster, Anne Murray, Dee Daniels, The Rankins and Holly Cole.
Dominique participated in three sessions with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada as both a performer and a librarian/staff member – one session of which she won the audition for the sole timpani/percussion position in their chamber orchestra year of 1995. She frequently teaches percussion clinics and masterclasses, and has been a pianist since 1981. Dominique has been the stage manager and percussion educator for the Vancouver Kiwanis Concert Band Festival since 2004, and is proudly employed as an Educational Representative with Tom Lee Music.
Ms. Bernath is a Yamaha and Zildjian artist.
