   The Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra is a touring orchestra consisting of professional musicians and a chorus. The CSO has developed an enviable reputation for putting on concerts. throughout the lower mainland and has formed countless collaborations with artists of both local and international renown. In addition the CSO’s programs bring opportunities to young musicians and artists starting their professional career in music. The CSO’s mission is to bring the highest calibre of music to people on their own doorstep so that they don’t need to travel into the centre of Vancouver to access the highest quality shows. The CSO is a non-profit society, incorporated in August 1999. The late Maestro John van Liempt and Maestra Paula DeWit, founded the CSO. It was initially created to offer Chilliwack music lovers their own first class symphony orchestra & chorus. 

Expertise and Knowledge

The CSO is the Fraser Valley’s  finest and most prestigious cultural and music asset. To hear the world’s finest music masterpieces played by musicians and sung by singers from the Fraser Valley is an exhilarating and profound experience. Concerts leave patrons singing and humming our music on their way home.

The CSO is the hub for musical artistic life in the Fraser Valley. The orchestra & chorus, in addition to formal concerts, also perform at our annual fund raising gala, The Note-able Feast. Members of the CSO also perform as small ensembles at various functions.

The Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra & Chorus designs its performances to meet the musical tastes of the Fraser Valley and lower mainland communities. Our concerts will include a variety of musical genres, such as Classical, Light Classical, Popular, Broadway and Jazz. The Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra & Chorus frequently consists of a 25-piece orchestra, 45-member chorus, 8 voice a cappella group, as well as the CSO Starlets.

The Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra is one of the only professional orchestra’s in the Fraser Valley and east of the Port Mann Bridge.

The Chilliwack Symphony Chorus is a performance choir and we love to sing for people. We have openings in all voice types. Interested singers must be willing to make a year long commitment and must be able to read music.

The Starlets are retro style singers who will take you back to the Gatsby era (roaring twenties through to the thirties) with a mixture of authentic vintage and modern pop songs arranged to sound like songs of the times, to a 1940s wartime tribute (Andrews Sisters), to swing.
