Welcome to the Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra

Symphony

Residents from the Fraser Valley and Lower mainland will not need to travel to Vancouver for their concert needs. They won’t need to pay out of town high-ticket prices and parking fees; instead, they can enjoy locally produced, first class concerts from the Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra & Chorus. The Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra & Chorus (CSO) is a non-profit society, incorporated in August 1999. The late Maestro John van Liempt and Maestra Paula DeWit, founded the CSO. It was initially created to offer Chilliwack music lovers their own first class symphony orchestra and chorus. Since its inception, the CSO has grown into a touring orchestra consisting of professional musicians.

The Chilliwack Symphony Chorus is a performance choir and we love to sing for people. We have openings in all voice types. Interested singers must be willing to make a year long commitment and must be able to read music.

CSO Starlets

CSO Starlets

The Starlets are retro style singers who will take you back to the Gatsby era (roaring twenties through to the thirties) with a mixture of authentic vintage and modern pop songs arranged to sound like songs of the times, to a 1940s wartime tribute (Andrews Sisters), to swing.

What the Messiah means to me.

I am a “Rocker” by heart. I grew up listening and playing classic rock music. It wasn’t until I joined the Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra & Chorus in 2018 where my mind was immediately blown by the intricate beauty and message of Handel’s Messiah. During my first...

What the Messiah means to me!

For me, the Christmas season doesn't feel complete without Handel's Messiah. Growing up, it was the background music to every Christmas car ride, the ultimate favorite parts of every Christmas concert, and the music that will forever fill my heart with emotions of the...

What the Messiah means to me!

I fell in love with music at a very early age. I have a vivid memory of 4-year-old Nikki sitting listening to beautiful harmonies and thinking that I just might be in heaven. My grade 2 music teacher soon let me know that I could not sing and that I was tone deaf....
